The Nudge Global Impact Awards 2022

The Nudge Global Impact Awards

Awarded to the Challenge participants who created the biggest impact

We want to put the focus on the global impact that our alumni create. They prove they are true leaders in sustainability by successfully implementing their Sustainability Impact Plans. Through the Nudge Global Impact Awards we congratulate the alumni who managed to achieve the biggest impact with their plans.

Impact Plan

During the Nudge Global Impact Challenge, each participant creates and improves his or her own sustainability impact plan – a plan with focus on environmental and/or social impact. The ultimate purpose is to implement this plan in the participant’s company, organisation, university, or community. The participants of the Nudge Global Impact Challenge 2021 are now working on the realisation of their impact plans.

All participants of the 2021 Challenge were nominated for the Nudge Global Impact Awards 2022. To measure, monitor and evaluate the impact realised by the Challenge participants, our strategic partner, the VU Amsterdam, designed an evaluation framework. Prof. Dr. Philipp Pattberg (Head of the Environmental Policy Analysis Department at the Institute for Environmental Studies) and his team are responsible for this unique measuring method. Based on the Total Impact scores, 6 finalists were selected. They were invited to join the Nudge Global Impact Awards night on 27 May 2022 in the Peace Palace in The Hague, the Netherlands, to present the impact they have made with their plans.

Based on the answers from our alumni to multiple questions, three scores are assigned to each impact plan: direct impact, outcome impact and project management. These are all weighted and combined into a Total Impact Score. During the Awards ceremony, integral part of the Awards night, the jury chose 3 Winners. Their prize is an amount of money to be used on a cause of public benefit connected to their impact project.

The execution of the participants’ impact plans are measured and monitored using the evaluation framework created by the VU Amsterdam, strategic partner of the Nudge Global Impact Challenge. At VU Amsterdam, Prof. Dr. Philipp Pattberg heads the Department of Environmental Policy Analysis (Faculty of Earth and Life Sciences); a team of more than 25 researchers that was evaluated in a 2014 international review as ‘world leading’ and as being ‘one of the highest profile academic research groups involved with sustainability governance from around the world’. We are proud that Prof. Dr. Pattberg and his team have designed the evaluation framework for the Nudge Global Impact Awards.
