Brazil:

André Estrella, Trainee Unilever: My name is André Estrella and I was born in São Paulo 1989. My family (mom, dad, a old and a young brother) is typical median class family in Brazil, we are very close one each other. In my childhood we were educated to respect the environment, religions, cultures and opinions from all over the world. Eighteen I left home for college where I lived with other 5 people in a fraternity. During the college I had a opportunity to do an exchanging program to live in London for 6 months then I returned to receive my production engineering degree. I’ve started working in a company called 3M before being accepted as a trainee in Unilever. Now I’m living in Pouso Alegre, a country city In Brazil, where I’m responsible for the continuums improvement at factory. During all my life I’ve been involving with social work and today I’m working in a project called “doors to knowledge”.

Brazil:

Alanna Sousa, Founder and Director Todoos Impacto Social: Alanna Sousa: Graduated in Law by “straw”. but Consultant of “lost causes” by vocation. Was born in Maranhão but raised in the world, has already known the best and worst of 4 different continents where learned how to deal with differences differences and discovered a passion for works with purpose. Works with social causes since 2011, and in 2012 founded her own Company, Todoos Impacto Social – Management Consulting Third Sector Organizations and Business Solutions with focus on Corporate Social Responsibility. Acts as a Consultant, Speaker, Facilitator and Idealizer Meetings, Training and Social Solutions. It is also Co-founder of the International Social Project and National non-profitable Association, A Liter of Light Brazil.

China:

Jill Xu, Research Manager, Maximum Employment Marketing Group: JiaYin. Xu (Jill) is born and grow up in Shanghai, China. Research manager of Maximum Employment Marketing Group. She has been, has been devoted to employer branding industry adversing for almost 6 years, worked for leading employer clients such as Yum! Brands, Shell, Porsche, Novartis, Stora Enso, and American Express.

Loves travelling to meet different people and experience different culture. Recently get addicted to swimming and cycling.

China:

Pooja Nagesh Manik, MBA China Europe International Business School: Driven by impact, Pooja is passionate about sustainability & social enterprises. With experiences in a startup social enterprise & a global manufacturing firm, she has developed a range of skills in project management & operations. Opportunities to live, study & work in India, Canada, USA, China & Spain (at present) have exposed her to multiple cultures & people from diverse backgrounds.
At present, Pooja is pursuing her MBA in order to gain the theoretical knowledge, business skills and leadership abilities to build a career in the field of strategy & sustainability, She hopes to combine her knowledge, skills & experiences to maximize her impact.

China:

Jing Gu, Executive Assistant ABN Amro: I was born in Shanghai in 1988 and had my undergraduate study in Fudan University. In 2009, I participated in Exchange Aboard Program and studied in UCSB for half a year in United States.
I graduated from Fudan University in 2011 and joined Bank of China as Relationship Manager in Corporate Finance.
In May 2014, I joined ABN AMRO Shanghai Rep Office, to assist Chief Representative and Project Team to upgrade our Rep Office into a branch.

Egypt

Ghada Hassan, Junior Brand Manager Danone Nutricia Early Life Nutrition: I am 24 years old, graduated in 2011 from the German University in Cairo with a BA in Science in Management with a double concentration in Economics and Innovation Technology Management. I’ve been doing sports all my life, moved from one to the other till I found Crossfit, which became one of my true passions. I joined Danone Nutricia in 2012, as part of the Graduate Program. My first project was in Trade Marketing in Egypt, second was in Human Resources also in Egypt, and the last one was in Supply Chain in Switzerland. After a year and half of rotations I found my way to my current position as a Junior Brand Manager. The experience has been diverse and challenging and I am looking forward to see what the future brings.

Egypt

Omar Monsif, Graduate Program Project Associate Danone: I was Born in Egypt. I have a bachelor degree in pharmacy class 2011. Was the R&D head for SIFE NGO @ M.U.S.T University 2011. Started working as a medical representative for Abbott Nutrition, Then moved to Danone Nutricia KSA. After that I was chosen to be part of Danone Gradate Program starting Sep. 2013.  Did a Market research project in Kuwait , A CSR project in Egypt and currently working with R&D in Dubai. I enjoy traveling, exploring new cultures and meeting new people, I lived in 6 countries and have been to 9 countries.

France

Lucile Danglas, Research Assistant IESE Business School: From Paris to Barcelona, with amazing stopovers in Montreal, Milan, Mumbai and La Paz, I have learnt about economics, management, policies and business; about health care, agriculture and education; and also about hiking high, making wine and breaking bones. Beyond, I have fallen in love with People, and I have decided to make People the heart of my initiatives. I now work in healthcare and innovation management and I am passionate about social enterprises with a deep and lasting impact on People around the world. I am a global dreamer and I believe that together we can make a change.

Janis Tong, Head of Administration and Development Good Lab: Janis is the Head of Programme and Development at The Good Lab, Hong Kong’s first social innovation hub for aspiring social entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds. Her roles include connecting individual and startup members to mentors and potential partners for their social business ideas, and facilitating workshops, tours and training programmes for tri-sector participants through the Good Lab Social Innovation Academy. She is also an enthusiast in marathon, cycling and traveling.

Hong Kong

Esmée Dorpmans, Business Manager Human Resources ABN Amro: I am Esmée Dorpmans and I studied Biology & Science Based Business before starting my traineeship at ABN AMRO Bank. I worked as an internal auditor for 3.5 years with focus on Corporate Banking. Next to my work I did a post-doc in Finance and Control. Right after handing in my thesis one year ago, I moved to Hong Kong to work as a Business Manager for Human Resources within the Hong Kong branch of ABN AMRO Bank. The past year has been, without a doubt, the best of my life. To work in a different culture is something I can recommend to anyone.

India

Kalpesh Gavali, Business Analyst Infozech: 

– Working as a Business Analyst in energy and marketing domain at Infozech Software private limited (Delhi, India).

– Won 7+ awards, published 10+ research papers and represented India in 10+ conferences on different national and international platform

Indonesia:

Nindya Miesye Agita Pasaribu, Student University of Indonesia: Many young adults in Indonesia lacked access to the resources and opportunities for personal and professional development. So, with a tagline, “Going Global, Being Indonesian,” Gita created a media portal on Twitter in 2011, Tweet kuliah, specifically to connect young job-hunters with employment opportunities nationally and worldwide as well as to inform them of activities and events to support their academic experience through NGOs and governmental programs for personal and professional development. She was invited to participate in the UNESCO Youth Desk Workshop, “Engage, Ensure, Encourage, Empower” in Jakarta. 2012 was a busy year for Gita. She was selected as Indonesia’s delegate to the “Young Women’s International Leadership Summit” in Munich, Germany, and also as a delegate from Indonesia for the International Youth Forum in New Delhi, India. She was also selected as a Youth Representative from Indonesia for the Global Youth Forum in Bali, Indonesia. In 2013, she was selected as an official delegate of Indonesia Youth Forum and to participate with the Indonesian delegation in Asia Pacific Week held at the Australian National University in Canberra, Australia, Hansen Summer Institute on Leadership and International Cooperation at University of San Diego and JENESYS 2.O Science and Technology Programme in Japan.

Whether Gita ultimately focuses on law, education, or as a social entrepreneur in fashion, she is an unstoppable young woman.

Indonesia:

Indira Nuranissa Ardiwidjaya, Corporate Responsibility Officer Multi Bintang Indonesia: Held a degree in Marketing Communications and also corporate communications. currently working as corporate responsibility officer within the last 2 years in Multi Bintang, a reputable beverage company with portfolio brand ls Bintang Beer, Heineken®, Bintang Radler, Green Sands and Bintang Zero. Prior working as a corporate responsibility officer, she held some positions in marketing communication and public relations.

Nigeria

Akpana Ahukannah, Sourcing Innovations Project Manager Nigerian Breweries: My name is Akpana Ahukannah and I am from Nigeria. I work with Heineken in the Nigerian Operating company (NB Plc), and have also been on international assignment at the Head office in Amsterdam 2 years ago. My background is in Human Resources and Project management though my current role has availed me the opportunity of delving into innovations. I turned 30 this year and is married with a 2 year old daughter. My hobbies include travel, literature and music… in no particular order.

Nigeria

Peter Okeugo, Journalist PUNCH: 27-year-old PETER OKEUGO is a Nigerian journalist with PUNCH Nigeria Limited, (publishers of PUNCH Newspapers). With a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and Planning, and Basic Certificate in Leadership, he is the founder of newly-formed Help A Child, a philanthropy cause. He is passionate about leadership, poor children and change. He loves to meet people, interact with them and learn from them.

South Africa:

Hafeezah van der Ross, Student – Bachelor of Business Science (BBusSc) Finance Honours With Economics Level 3, University of Cape Town: My name is Hafeezah Begum Van der Ross and I live in Cape Town, South Africa. I’m a recent graduate at the University of Cape Town where I completed a Business Science Finance Honours Bachelors degree. What brought me to the GLC was my involvement with my universities society Educational division of The Students Health and Welfare Centre’s Organisation (SHAWCO), which is a student-run Educational NGO operating in Cape Town. My interests include education systems and entrepreneurship.

South Africa:

Elise Lufting, Analyst Private Equity FMO: Originally I am from the Netherlands, I have studied at the University of Amsterdam were I completed the Bachelor Economics & Business and the Master of Science in Business Economics. Afterwards I started the Commercial Banking Traineeship at ING were I worked for three years in several departments across the world (UK and Asia). After finalizing the traineeship I realized that social aspects of financing and my drive to create a lasting change have to play a key role in my future career. Therefore I joined FMO’s Private Equity department in June 2013 as an Analyst, mainly focusing on PE Funds and direct investments in Financial Institutions and the Renewable Energy sector in Africa. My responsibilities include portfolio management and monitoring of the Africa portfolio as well as research, due diligence and business development. Currently I am living in Amsterdam; in my “free” time I like travelling, painting, tennis and spending time with family and friends.

The Netherlands:

Lisanne van Zwol, Co-founder Kromkommer: Born in the Netherlands, grew up close to Rotterdam. Studied at Erasmus University Rotterdam and graduated in Organizational Psychology and General Management. Started a consultancy business with a study companion during my master in Business. Founded Kromkommer after graduating: a social business focused on reducing food waste through saving vegetables that are wasted due to ‘looks’ or overproduction. Involved in Youth Food Movement (part of Slow Food International).

Pablo Garate, Strategy Consultant Accenture: Pablo is a consultant in Accenture’s Strategy and Sustainability Practice with five years of experience working in the energy sector. He joined Accenture in November, 2011. For the last two years, Pablo has been deployed to one of the leading utilities in the European electricity sector, where he has participating in a variety of strategic and transformational projects related to Sales and Marketing departments. In February 2014, Accenture elected Pablo to participate in the World Business Council for Sustainable Development’s (WBCSD) Future Leaders Program 2014. This program aims to enrich Pablo’s capacities and competencies in the Sustainability field and will enable him to share his knowledge and experience with other key industry players. Prior to joining Accenture, Pablo’s professional interests had always been related to the energy area, especially in energy efficiency in buildings and renewable energy fields. Sweden

Ole Oberste Berghaus, MSc in Environmental Studies and Sustainability Science Lund University: German born and raised, lived in different countries, now living permanently in Lund, Sweden. As an economist and sustainability scholar by training and intercultural trainer in my spare time, I enjoy travelling the world, discovering foreign and local (sub-)cultures and exploring new innovations. My long lasting UN Youth involvement as well as my interest in foreign policy in general has always enriched my life and gave me the opportunity to meet great leaders of the past and today’s world.

Turkey:

Turkey:

Phyllis Kong, CSR Project Developer Ferrero: Originally from Hong Kong, I am a Project Developer in raw materials sustainability at Ferrero, an Italian confectionary company. Prior to this relatively new position, I worked in the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Office in Brussels for 1.5 years. After graduated from my Master’s degree in Global Governance and Ethics in London, I respectively joined a UK NGO, the European Commission and a public affairs consultancy as a trainee, all focusing on CSR policy, project communication and stakeholders management. I am particularly interested in human rights, child rights, gender and labour issues. I am currently based in Luxembourg and am a frequent traveler. I enjoy dancing, doing yoga, photography and exploring different cultures during leisure time.

United Arab Emirates

Sarah Ali, Consumer engagement programs manager Danone: Sarah Snowneil Ali is based in Dubai, UAE. Originally from Lebanon where she studied at the American University of Beirut and completed her Bachelors in Business with a Minor degree in English Literature in 2008. Sarah has worked for Danone Baby Nutrition for the last 4 and a half years. She is passionate about people, poetry, reading and writing.

United Arab Emirates

Tarik Alsilwadt, Graduate Associate Danone: I am currently a Graduate Associate at Danone in Dubai, UAE. I graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Any kind of fitness training and travelling are my favourite pastimes. I look forward to one day providing something that will improve the well-being and lives of many people.

United Kingdom:

Becky Parrish, Account Manager Interface: I work as an Account Manager for Interface, the global manufacturer of carpet tiles. This involves meeting with Architects and Designers to help them select products for their projects, often working toward certain sustainability targets. I have a degree in Biomedical Science and have just started study in my spare time at the Open University within the area of sustainability.

United Kingdom:

Rachael Everard, Global Sustainability Analyst Rolls-Royce plc: A recent Sustainable Development graduate with a long instilled passion for sustainability – particularly interested in the role of big business is empowering a better future and creating shared value. Since graduating Rachael has been working sustainability in the UK and the US for a global aerospace company, where she is responsible for embedding sustainability within the global supply chain and delivering social innovation projects in select emerging markets.

United States of America:

Stephanie Dexter, Jr. Brand Manager of Dos Equis beer Heineken USA: Born and raised in the suburbs of Washington D.C., Stephanie – Age 23 – currently lives in New York City where she works for global beer supplier, Heineken. At Heineken, Stephanie manages the advertisement and marketing strategy for Dos Equis, a Mexican beer that is a part of the Heineken USA portfolio—or, as it is perhaps better known around the world: the beer that The Most Interesting Man in the World Drinks (see image). She became interested in sustainability—in particular, water conservation—when she interned with her county’s Department of Public Works and saw, first-hand, the significant resources required to keep a population’s water supply safe. The experience was extremely impactful on Stephanie, as it helped her realize the luxuries that she was taking for granted, and since then she has been interested in educating and improving organizations’ water conservation practices.

United States of America:

Andrew Amis, CEO Village Innovators: Andrew Amis is CEO of Village Innovators, a not-for-profit investing in homegrown technologies and social enterprises in East Africa.  A Truman Scholar, Andrew studied chemical engineering and history at Rice University and exponential technologies at Singularity University’s Graduate Studies Program.  He is also a percussionist.
