Why apply? The Nudge Global Impact Challenge as seen from the eyes of two participants…

“It helps you realise that you have the ability to make a change and nudge people in the right direction!”

Written in November 2017 by Toby Harris (Safety and Compliance Manager) and Katie Latta (Corporate Responsibility Executive), both working at Calor Gas in the UK.

“The Nudge Global Impact Challenge is an intense learning experience covering sustainability, leadership and impact and with 90 participants from across the world, there was plenty of fun to be had too! The theme of the 2018 Challenge was ‘GDP or SDG?’.

Day One of the three day learning experience of the Challenge was mostly spent being inspired by the keynote speakers; there were also many opportunities to get to know the other participants through peer coaching and outdoor activities!

Day Two saw teams formed to help social entrepreneurs find solutions to their business challenges. That evening, we travelled to the Peace Palace in The Hague. It gave us the opportunity to meet sponsors of the event, see the development of the previous year’s Challenge participants and their impact plans and try a delicious vegan menu!

The final day saw all of our hard work come together. We were given the opportunity to highlight leadership traits that we had seen in other participants throughout the event – being given such positive feedback was a very humbling experience. At the end of the day, the final winners of the Challenge were selected. The judging was based on a combination of numerous assessments carried out over the three days and the participants’ Impact Plans they had produced as part of the programme.

We returned on Sunday tired but incredibly inspired and motivated to help drive sustainable development at Calor. We would thoroughly recommend this programme to anyone with an interest in sustainability, as not only does it give you an amazing opportunity to meet like-minded people, but it helps you realise that you have the ability to make a change and nudge people in the right direction!”
