Brewing a Better World is HEINEKEN’s long-term approach to sustainability and one of their key operational priorities for the business. Their strategy focuses on the areas where they can make the biggest difference: Protecting water resources, Reducing CO₂ emissions, Sourcing sustainably, Advocating responsible consumption, Promoting health and safety, Growing with communities.
Chief Executive Jean-François van Boxmeer states: “Sustainability is both a strategic priority and a business imperative for the Company. If the communities and societies where we operate and where we sell our products are strong then our business has a chance to grow.”
Moreover, HEINEKEN sees the importance of driving great leadership in a culturally diverse working environment and, therefore, invests in the leaders of the future.
In last years’ Challenges Heineken sent young professionals from the USA to the Global Challenge. Dayna Adelman, HEINEKEN USA (participant Global Challenge 2015) describes her experiences:

I learned more about myself – and my purpose – than I ever could have imagined, and I walk away today with a strong sustainability impact plan that will revolutionize how we raise awareness about recycling in the United States.”
