De Friesland Zorgverzekeraar (De Friesland) is a healthcare insurance company in The Netherlands that puts its efforts into making healthcare accessible and affordable for anyone since 1815. It has been able to do so for over two hundred years by keeping the personal needs of its customers in high regard. Being an insurer, De Friesland believes it plays an important role in contributing to sustainable healthcare. This makes De Friesland a perfect match for the Nudge Global Impact Challenge. Therefore, we are very proud to announce De Friesland as Support Partner to the 2017 Challenge.
Through innovation, the quality of life and health has increased tremendously. However, this has also caused the personal touch within healthcare and our feeling of well-being to decrease. The tension between increasing wealth and technology on the one hand and the feeling of personal well-being on the other, fits right into the theme of the 2017 Challenge: ‘GDP or SDG? Nudging young leaders towards sustainable economics’. De Friesland is very motivated to have its candidates participate in this Challenge. This allows the candidates to further develop impact plans and work towards the ambition of De Friesland to significantly contribute to sustainable healthcare.
With regard to the future, De Friesland focusses its ambitions in sustainability on prevention and vitality. In doing so, it engages both customers and employees to help each other to a healthier way of living. In programs such as ‘Duurzaam en Gezond aan Tafel’ healthy eating is stimulated. Furthermore, De Friesland also actively collaborates with contractors in healthcare, such as hospitals, to take the environment into account in their buildings and production processes. This wide-stretched approach to sustainability fits right into the ambition of the Challenge to make an impact.
